man journal: the adventures of Hungy in Asia
Day 1
Arrived in Beijing.
Plane food for breakfast lunch dinner makes you sick.
Saw kids stealing power at HKIA
People. And noise. And pollution. And people. And even more people.
All the cars in Beijing are either black or white.
Get money from randoms.
Day 2
Stuff is cheap.
Shopping is hard work. But stuff is cheap.
Food is also cheap.
Eat rich food with and get money from some more people I'm supposed to know.
Suspects dad has many other kids.*
Day 3
Some dodgy stuff happening.
Food is cheap.
Dad made some guy fix my DS for free.
Asian subway/train is uber and not fail.
Asia is tiring.
Day 4
On the road.
DS is fun. Lv16
Hotel rooms are cheap. They also have free net, which is slow. But free.*^
Day 5
Mountain (steps) climbing (Tai shan).
Saw a really fat cat.
Played more DS. Lv20
Arrives in Nanjing
Living with grans. I recognize most of the furniture/appliances/bowls/etc. etc. (10years+)
Day 6
Shopping is great when you can buy anything.
Got contacts. Can't put them on though.
Met more randoms i probably won't see again much.
One of them is a national baddy player though o.o
Asian 'toilets' really suck. Really really
Day 7
Played DS all day. L24
Have done no work.
Day 8
On the road again
Dad takes us to the countryside to see some factory.
Farms are really dirty.
Asian farmers are really up themselves.
Anything can be some sort of tourist attraction. Even a wall.
Played DS all day. L27
Goes to another small town. Its bigger than Sidney though, I think.
5 star hotel rooms are great.
Day 9
Goes to some buddhist island.
Forgot to bring DS. tragedy.
Fail mp3 has no battery. Tragedy.
Trip is really long, 3 hours
Island really boring, 2 hours
Trip back is also long, 3 hours
Buddhist monks are really rich
Ate more expensive food. Raw crabs anyone?
Day 10
Banned from DS by dad. Tragedy.
Crossed some 36km bridge over some ocean. In asia, the sea is brown.
Asian trains are really fast.
Arrives in Shanghai. Found charles, Victor. Goes 'shopping' for stuff.
'Real' stuff is expensive.
Fast food is not cheap enough.
Softserves are cooler though.
Saw epic fish. O:**
Got lost while trying to get home. Was not fun.***
Day 11
Good food is really, really cheap, if you know where to look

Expo....is probably not worth your money.
Hot girls are far few and between :\ (yes i was counting them to pass the time)
DS ran out of battery around lunch. Tragedy
My god, the shops inside the expo are jewish.
The Latvian pavilion had some dudes flying in a wind tunnel. Completely unrelated to expo, but it was awesome.
Some white people can speak Asian. Others can't.
Day 13
I did work o.o
Not really, half a page of macro.
Went to do more shopping.

If you convert RMB to AUD, even expensive food is cheap.
But otherwise its ridiculous. Y200 for sushi? o.o
Day 14

Day 15
Home time
Saw a plane flying the other way halfway during our flight.
Mario Kart and Twilight all the way. Much fun.

Epilogue
I am home now, have done basically no work, and have slept an hour in the past 48. I hope people will say some quotable stuff tomorrow. Incidentally, the DS game i was leveling was FFTA2. And Mario kart, but you don't level in that.

In hindsight, this was neither very inspiring to write or read about, but since I already wrote it, you can have it. At least it'll increase the post count.

*:We got a phone call in the car (hands free mode), where a little girl was like 'hey dad, when are you coming home? Me and mum are already sleepy...'
*^:This one deserves a special mention: we had 2 hotel rooms booked, when we got there we saw the rooms had a queen and a single bed in one room, so dad wanted to cancel one since we could fit in one, but mum was like 'cbs. its only Y130'. Way to be unasian, mum.
**:Usually I would dedicate a whole post to that epic day, but unfortunately I cbsed. So if you ever go to Shanghai, be sure to visit the underground area of Renmin GuangChang (People's square), and go through the area with the stalls. In the middle of it all is a toroidal fish tank, and inside are tons of red fishies, who follow you around and make O: faces at you. They are very awesome. The only time I have ever regretted not bringing a camera with me.
Although I don't know if they're there anymore, because when i tried to visit the next day the whole area was fenced off for 10-1 celebrations :\ I hope they're alive though D:
***: So on the way back, me and Charles took the train via a different line, thinking we had a shortcut. But oh no, the station we were going to get off at wasn't open yet. Hooray for Asian planning. So, we took a cab(thankfully they're cheap) to Charles' station, and then long story short I got lost, phone died, took a wrong turn somewhere and ended up not at home till 2 hours later.
